From the Microscope to the Acupuncture Room
Hi! My name is Marca, and I am a qualified and dedicated acupuncturist specialising in women’s health and fertility. With 18 years of hands-on experience as an active embryologist, I am deeply committed to supporting those navigating fertility challenges.
For many years, I worked closely with microscopes, analysing eggs, assessing sperm, and managing embryos. While I appreciated the science, I felt a missing link; I was focused on "cells" rather than the patients themselves. I realised that although IVF technology is powerful, it often reduces patients to mere data points, leaving them feeling stressed and uncertain. This revelation inspired me to seek a better way to support patients on their fertility journeys.
After observing the positive effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture on IVF patients I encountered in Australia, I embarked on a new path. I came to understand the significance of a holistic approach in enhancing overall well-being and recognised the potential it holds for supporting women’s health.
I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Madrid before continuing my education in Acupuncture at the City College of Acupuncture in London. I am a versatile acupuncturist specialising in fertility, particularly in women, with extensive experience in supporting a range of medical conditions.
I am proud to be a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), the UK’s largest professional body of traditional acupuncturists, and the Acupuncture Fertility Network (AFN), where we support individuals facing fertility challenges throughout the UK.
I believe that promoting women's reproductive health requires a compassionate approach that combines traditional with modern science. By integrating Western reproductive science with Traditional Chinese Medicine, I connect lab findings with the holistic aspects of Mind and Spirit. My background as an embryologist has given me insight into the complexity of reproductive health, and I focus on you as a whole person, not just a diagnosis. By merging these two worlds, I am not only focused on a diagnosis; I focus on you. I use evidence-based acupuncture techniques to help regulate hormones, improve blood flow to the reproductive organs, and soothe the nervous system.
